Matt Brewing
Matt Brewing Co. has continued its ongoing facility enhancement and product diversification projects during the past year. As part of its efforts to maintain its leadership position in the craft brewing and bottling industry in New York, Matt invested over $8 million at its Utica facility in the past year. Infrastructure improvements, new cellars, new DSP handling and containment systems, and an expanded bottle line, were all carried out in this expansion. The OCIDA continues to assist Matt with exemption from sales and use taxes on facility renovations and equipping, exemption from mortgage recording tax, and a payment in lieu of tax agreement (PILOT) with local taxing jurisdictions.
McCraith Beverages
McCraith Beverages, Inc. commenced a 23,000 square foot, $3.7 million facility expansion in 2022. Based in New York Mills, McCraith is a wholesale distributor of beer, soda, water, snacks, wine, and spirits. The OCIDA and EDGE staff assisted with coordinating exemption from sales and use taxes on the construction and equipping of the facility, exemption from mortgage recording tax, and a payment in lieu of tax agreement (PILOT) with local taxing jurisdictions. Wolfspeed
Wolfspeed has invested $1B in the Mohawk Valley through this project. The OCIDA's assistance in financial matters and material jumpstarted site construction that began in Spring 2020. Since its opening in April 2022, the brand-new, state of the art fabrication facility has dramatically increased Wolfspeed’s Silicon Carbide market reach. As the global demand for Wolfspeed's SiC technologies accelerates—powering everything from racecars to crucial 5G infrastructure advancements—and Micron’s investment in Clay unfold, this site is essential to New York State's stake in the semiconductor technology, fueling both industrywide infrastructure and the Mohawk Valley’s regional economy. The OCIDA assisted Wolfspeed with real property taxes exemption, mortgage tax exemption, and sales tax exemption. Multiple construction jobs were hired to build the fab facility, and more than 600 FTE jobs are planned for the next decade.
